Match Day 1 In Progress

May 8, 2013 Leave a comment

Logo_Neutre_07Currently Match Day 1 of the BASH Spring 2013 Season is Underway. Normally this is the part where you’d be scrambling to get all your matches done in a week. Well, not so fast. So we can get everyone acclimated to the new Blood Bowl Platofrm this Match Day is scheduled to go on until the 18th. It’s also a test to see if the new platform will force matches to be played or not, or how exactly that will work. Since the commissioner can’t be 100% sure that unplayed matches will just get dropped, I’d advise anyone who wants to be extra-safe to get their matches finished before the 13th.  Match Day 1 currently has The Ghent Crush against Hampton Roads Mightiest, The Fanciest of Pants vs. Overlord Dane, The Iron Curtain vs. Blood Runs Reds, and The Accounting Department vs. The Twilight Sparklers. Good luck to everyone in the new season. For future Match Days check the Current Schedule for that information. A calendar will be added to the schedule as soon as the commissioner can determine how the Blood Bowl Platform will handle this little schedule change-up.

Fall 2012 Season Comes to a Close

December 16, 2012 Leave a comment

Logo_Neutre_01Today the Fall 2012 Season of BASH comes to a close. It’s been a season of ups and downs, stunning upsets, and a display on on the pitch brutality. Many star players have given their lives on the pitch, making way for new up and coming rookies to take their place among the stars of the game. But at the end of the day, it’s all about the teams, and how they did. And once again the Dismal Swampers lead by Dennis Harrison have shown their consummate superiority out on the pitch once again, winning 7 out of 8 games played. They’re followed by the Mainie-iacs. A team that can move the ball, and hit, but with a small mistake crumples entirely and often leaves the pitch early! Behind them comes the Plagueborn, a team that is really coming into its own now, but for all of it’s skill just can’t seem to get the ball into the endzone with their slower, plodding players.

From the commissioner, thank you to everyone who participated this season, and good luck to those moving onto the Cup.

Cyanide Announces Dungeonbowl

April 10, 2012 Leave a comment

Cyanide has just sent out a press release announcing the imminent release of the Blood Bowl spinoff, Dungeonbowl. A few of our coaches might be familiar with the Dungeonbowl game which hasn’t seen an update since the second edition of the game. (Unless there has been some White Dwarf article I’m not aware of.) I know I’ve spoke to a few coaches who have been hoping to see an update to this unique property so I know you’ll be excited with the current news. Cyanide has already setup a website, Google+ group, and facebook group for the new property, though the website only contains a forum at the moment.

A copy of the press release has been included below.

Cyanide announces Dungeonbowl™ on PC.
Paris, April 10th 2012.

Cyanide is pleased to announce the upcoming release of Dungeonbowl. This online only game is played with characters from Games Workshop’s® renowned Blood Bowl® world.

Dungeonbowl is the next exciting Blood Bowl experience, set in the fantasy American Football inspired game world already adapted as a video game by Cyanide. The key difference between Dungeonbowl and Blood Bowl as is rather obvious from the name, is that Dungeonbowl is played in a dangerous dungeon!

The wizards created the Dungeonbowl as they wanted to know which Magic College was the most powerful. The game introduces some subtle modifications to the standard Blood Bowl rules. A match is still played between two teams, but each side is composed of three races. For example, the roster of a Rainbow Wizards team contains Wood Elves, Halflings and Humans. The second difference is that the first team to score a touchdown wins the match. This task is made significantly more difficult by the fact that the ball is hidden in one of six treasure chests, five of which are booby-trapped with an explosive spell. Last, but by no means least, movement within the dungeon is both facilitated and complicated by teleporter pads. These allow players to magically zap from one position to another; a mishap, however, can lead to a player being zapped out of the match. As with Blood Bowl, the game is driven by dice and each player plays in turn.

Dungeonbowl continues Cyanide’s successful collaboration with Games Workshop and their rich and varied Blood Bowl world. The gameplay should therefore delight existing Blood Bowl fans as well as offer a gateway to this zany parody of Warhammer®and American Football for fans of tactical sports gaming.

Dungeonbowl is scheduled for release in the second quarter of 2012 and will be available on the Windows PC.

Well Round 8 has come to a close and Round 9 is about to begin and we’re in the final stretch with only a few matches left in the season. Currently The Plagueborn are in the lead with 12 points with Peanut Butter Jelly Time in second place with 10 points. Also this week there have been some shuffling around of matches in the schedule to account for some of the end of season fatigue that’s been occurring in the final stretch of the run for the BASH Cup. This week has Peanut Butter Jelly Time against Naggarond Lightning, and The Dismal Swampers against The Plagueborn. Good luck out there.

Well the week is over and Round 7 has come to an end. On a serious note we have to bid a sorrowfull farewell for now to Eric and the Underpands Gnomes for now. They’ve a great part of the league and we’re glad to have had them, but schedule concerns has required Eric and his team to bow out for the rest of the season. Because of that there’s a new schedule on the books for the season. This week is Round 8 and it begins the final stretch for the cup. This week pits the Dismal Swampers vs. Arbor Doom and Peanut Butter Jelly time vs. Naggarond Lightning. This will be the Arbor Doom’s first match against the new Skaven team the Dismal Swampers, while Peanut Butter Jelly faces off against The Plagueborn.
