How to Challenge Another Coach

Sometimes for various reasons one coach avoids playing another. It can be simple scheduling difficulty, forgetfulness, or the desire to have one’s players not be ground up into a fine red paste. For these situations the league has the following challenge rules modeled after the Competition Rules Pack challenge rules. Changes have been made to accommodate the capabilities of the software the BASH Digital League uses to run the league, and to adjust for the kind of schedule the league uses. If software capabilities should change to allow the league to follow the CRP rules more closely then these challenge guidelines will be updated and posted here, with a new post being made to alert coaches of the changes.

Each coach in the BASH Digital League is allowed to issue one challenge every two weeks. (Challenges issued as part of crash or disconnect resolution do not count against this limit.) The challenge should be sent via email and should be CCed to the league commissioner at commissioner@bashdl.com.

The challenged coach then must make one of the following responses to the challenge within one week of the challenge being sent. The response to the challenge is also sent by email and is also CCed to the league commissioner at commissioner@bashdl.com.

  • Accept: The challenged coach accepts the challenge. The challenged coach then suggests times they will be available to play the match, both coaches agree upon a time and then play the match
  • Refuse: The challenged coach refuses the challenge.  This means the coach concedes the match per the “Conceding” rules in the Competition Rules Pack. This results in the game being reported as if the challenging coach had begun the game and then chosen the “Abandon Match” option in game. Creating this result and reporting the match will be handled by the league commissioner.
  • Substitute Team: The challenged coach may ask that another coach, currently part of the league to play against the challenger’s team. If the other coach agrees their team will play the challenger instead of the challenged team. The new team takes the challenged team’s scheduled match against the challenger. This is the only way a team may play more than two games against a team during the regular season. The response email should also include times that the substitute coach is available for play so that the match may be scheduled.

Remember that while you may challenge one coach every two weeks, you should save these for when you are having a very difficult time getting your match played.
